मुरमुरे से बनाएं कुरकुरे और स्वादिष्ट पकौड़े
Murmura vada is a crispy and delectable deep fried snack that is prepared using murmura. These vadas are crispy from outside and soft from inside. It is prepared using murmura (puffed rice), sooji and besan (gramflour). These crispy, crunchy and spicy fritters will be everyone’s favorite snacks. This is a vegan and easy to make recipe.
To make mumura vada, murmuras are soaked and slightly mashed using your fingers. Onion and basic spices are added in this mixture. Then this mixture is shaped to round vadas and deep fried. You may add cumin seeds, fennel seeds or coriander seeds. You can skip onion if you are making no onion snacks. You may add green chilli, coriander leaves or mint leaves.
Murmura vada are enjoyed with chutneys or sauces along with a hot cup of tea. It can be prepared for breakfast or evening snack.

Ingredients:
2 cup Murmura (puffed rice)
1/8 cup or 2 tbsp. sooji
½ cup besan
1 small onion, finely chopped
Salt to taste
½ tsp. red chilli powder
A small pinch heeng
½ tsp. coriander powder
¼ tsp. ajwain
¼ tsp garam masala
A small pinch baking soda
A small pinch turmeric powder
Oil for frying
Instructions:
Soak murmuras in sufficient water for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, drain water of murmuras. Squeeze them to remove all excess water.
Mash them using your fingers.
Add sooji, besan, chopped onion and all spices.
Mix properly to combine all ingredients.
Grease your palm and take some portion. Now make small size ball from the mixture.
Make all the vadas from the mixture.
Heat oil in a pan on medium flame. Gently drop vadas into hot oil one by one. Fry on low to medium flame.
Flip gently and fry from all sides till they get golden brown colour and become crisp.
Remove them from oil and drain excess oil.
Serve immediately with tomato ketchup or your favorite chutney.
Tips:
- If mixture is dry and you are unable to give the shape, add little water and then bind.
- You may add fennel seed, coriander seed or garlic cloves.
- Don’t fry on high flame otherwise they will quickly turn brown outside and uncooked from inside.
- You may skip onion. You may add coriander leaves and green chilli.
