Cheese Stuffed Appe | Cheesy Appam
Cheese stuffed appe is a delicious, tempting and mouthwatering breakfast recipe. It’s a perfect breakfast option for cheese lover. It is easy to make and a unique variation of appe and of course a vegetarian recipe. Everyone likes appe so I thought to give a different variation to appe. The goodness of cheese makes them a perfect delight.
To make appe, a batter is made with rava, curd and eno and tempered with red chilli powder, curry leaves and rai. You will need an appe or paniyaram pan. Pour this batter in pan and cooked until the outer layer become crunchy and properly cooked from inside. You may add any vegetables that you like or available in your kitchen.
This soft and spongy appe will give you a burst of flavors. Cheesy twist makes this recipe perfect to serve for guests. You can impress them with this delicious dish. You can serve this for breakfast, weekend parties, get together or as an evening snack. These cheesy appe can be served with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.

Ingredients:
3 cup rava (suji)
½ cup curd
Salt to taste
1 tsp. mixed hebs
For tempering:
2 tsp. ghee
¾ tsp. mustard seeds
Some curry leaves
½ tsp. red chilli powder
½ tsp. baking soda or eno
Oil for frying
Cheese cubes
Instructions:
Take sooji and curd in a bowl.
Add water and mix properly. Combine well to make lump free batter.
Leave it for 30 minutes.
Sooji will absorb water. After 30 minutes if required, add more water to make batter consistency.
Add salt and mixed herbs. Mix.
In a pan heat 2 tsp. oil. Add mustard seeds or rai. Let them crackle. Add curry leaves and red chilli powder.
Pour this tadka in batter. Mix properly.
Add baking powder and mix quickly.
Heat an appe pan on medium flame. Add ghee in each mould. Pour the batter up to ½ level and put cheese cube in center.
Cover with some batter.
Cover with lid. Cook on low flame till they become golden brown.
Flip them with the help of wooden skewer or toothpick.
Cover again and cook from another side.
You may flip again to properly cook them. Remove from pan.
Cheesy appe is ready to serve. Serve them with coconut chutney.
Tips:
- Adjust spices according to your taste.
- You may use vegetables according your availability and choice.
- You may add urad dal, chana dal and black pepper powder.
