Aloo Raita is a simple and easy whisked curd that is loaded with mashed boiled potatoes and tempered with heeng and jeera. This raita is not only delicious but also nutritious. There are so many varieties of raita like palak raita, bathua raita and boondi raita. You can make this aloo raita on Navratri or any other fasting day. Hence aloo ka raita is very versatile.
Potatoes are a good source of fibres, potassium, vitamin C and vitamin B6. Potatoes are considered as a heart healthy food because of lack of cholesterol. On the other hand curd is an amazing refreshment and a good source of Protein, Vitamin B12, Pantothenic Acid, Potassium and Zinc. So the combination of both makes this raita very nutritious.
Serve this delicious raita as an accompaniment with stuffed paratha, dry veg, khichdi or pulao. It can be served during breakfast, lunch or dinner.

1 medium sized potato, boiled
1 tbsp Oil
½ tsp Jeera (Cumin seeds)
½ tsp Black salt
Salt as per taste
A small pinch heeng
½ tsp red chilli powder
Peel and crumble potatoes. Add them into curd.
Add salt and black salt. Mix properly.
Heat oil in a pan.
Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and heeng. Let them crackle for a few seconds. Add red chilli powder and turn off the heat. Pour this tempering over the raita.
Serve the raita chilled with your faourite meal.

2 cup fresh curd (Yogurt)1 medium sized potato, boiled
